For Immediate Release October 16, 2006 Contact: Jennifer Kerns 916-420-2888 In Case You Missed It... Stockton Record October 15, 2006 A change in state leadership is overdue The six races for statewide office feature career politicians running for unfamiliar jobs in an unprecedented bid to stay employed by the taxpayers of California. That's the cynical view of the general election lineup. On the flip side, many of the candidates from both parties are eager to serve and offer voters an opportunity to dramatically change the leadership in Sacramento. Insurance Commissioner The race: Between Republican Steve Poizner, founder of SnapTrack, a successful Silicon Valley company, and Democrat Cruz Bustamante, lieutenant governor. Keys to Victory: Poizner needs only to hold steady. Bustamante will have to find a political rabbit to pull out of the hat. Endorsement: The Record recommends Poizner, 49. Reasons: A moderate, Poizner has made it clear he will institute many of the reforms started under John Garamendi. A political neophyte, he is a fresh face in a state needing fresh faces. Bottom Line: Californians are tired of Bustamante. |
